Jesus said, “It is written in the Scriptures that God said, ‘My Temple will be a house of prayer.” But you turned it into a hideout for thieves “(Lk 19:46). Jesus tells the leaders they have made God’s house a den of thieves. The traders selling in the temple have cheated people by high-handed money changing. They have also robbed the people of a much more valuable possessions, their place of prayer, a place where they can listen to the Lord, learn to know the true God and respond to him with love. So Jesus cleanses the temple for a place where he, the Lord, can teach his people. The courage of Jesus is not just something for us to admire. It is something for us to imitate. May God give us the grace to do courageous things for our faith in Christ Jesus and help us offer Him fitting adoration and worship.
