Homily of the day

Jesus washes his disciples feet. He said, “I, your Lord and Teacher, have just washed your feet. You, then, should wash one another’s feet. I have set an example for you, so that you will do just what I have done for you” (Jn 13:14-15). Jesus instills into us by word and example the importance of loving service to others. If we love Jesus for what he has done for us on Calvary, if we have learnt to see him in others, especially the needy, it will be possible for us to love and serve others, as Jesus has commanded us. Maybe, sometimes, we won’t discover Jesus in people we serve, behind the dirty hands, the wrinkled face, the matted hair. But those who love God and want to serve him, will serve any person who is in need. May God give us the grace to follow the example of Jesus in our service and help us be practical and selfless in serving others, especially the needy.
