Ungodly men say to themselves, “Let us test him with insult and torture, that we may find out how gentle he is, and make trial of his forbearance. Let us condemn him to a shameful death, for, according to what he says, he will be protected” (Wis 2:19–20). The righteous man took the risk every person of faith takes. His righteous life and upright speech, only provoked his enemies to put him to the test and want to condemn him to a shameful death. The righteous man gave proof of his righteousness when he was put to the test. Like the righteous man, we are urged to give a striking proof of our faithfulness to God when we are put to the test. May God help us remain ever faithful and give us the grace to live virtuous and upright lives even in the face of threat and trials of life. God bless you all.
